As one would suspect, my imagination is an active, busy and colorful place. Characters, stories and clever humor catapult me into lyric writing so often that I'm never not creating. Like, right at this moment, there are 3 new CDs (with 20-26 tracks on each) in production AND there are close to 75 songs, dances and games just waiting to either be written, recorded or further worked on in the Music Monkey Jungle Studios.
I used active imagination, imagery and lyric writing as tools to help young minds delve into creative writing with me, in the heat of the music classroom. Because, as an elementary music teacher in a public school district, all support staff and special area teachers were called upon to "support the school's writing, reading and/or math goals". And, without Reading, English, Language Arts, Math and Science, MUSIC can't exist.
The creation of Fifi, Fester, Neil the Bird, the Happy Dance Trees, Hercules the Ladybug, the rainbow flowers, puffy white clouds and imagery of Music Monkey Jungle were the focal points of our creative writing and lyric creating conversations.

I've been the attendee of so many professional development workshops, seminars and conferences. A handful were specific to music education, another handful were partially relevant to the elementary classroom setting (the setting I was teaching in at those times) but the majority didn't pertain to me, my field and my specialty almost at all. It made me feel ignored, under appreciated and disposable.
I left the elementary classroom in the summer of 2010, earned my PQAS Certification in 2011 and I'm so happy to say the professional development opportunities I am asked to give are some of the greatest experiences I've had. Connecting with fellow educators, through music, movement, building and friendship is what it's all about and I'd love to have the opportunity to work with you and your colleagues. Music & Movement For The Classroom Teacher: Attendees will learn relevant, user-friendly and fun activities that are easy for educators of all ages and subjects to implement in the comfort of their classrooms. Regardless of experiences with music education (positive or negative), age, ability level of understanding, this seminar will encourage you to incorporate music and music education into your daily routine.
Enhancing The Educational Environment Through Music: Studies have show that each component of music affects a different part of the brain; supporting, encouraging and stimulating growth in all areas of development and learning. In today's high-tech, fast-paced world, we would all benefit from learning how to slow down in order to be fully present in our own bodies and teaching those techniques to the students in our classrooms.
Lyric Writing Is Language Arts: Before the song is sung, the lyrics have to be written. And when the lyrics are written, spelling, grammar, punctuation, the main idea, sequence and creative details count. This seminar will bring out your inner singer-songwriter through step-by-step guidelines that reinforce the basics of Language Arts and will bring fresh and innovative ideas to their music-loving students.
How To Teach Personal Space: "Keep your hands to yourself" is a universal rule within classrooms all over the world. However, what about the rest of the body and the space that surrounds it? The best way to create a safe, happy and healthy environment for students to learn is to teach them how to make personal space a personal responsibility. This seminar will present elemental tips, tricks and techniques that teach personal space.

PROGRAMS & ASSEMBLIES
MUSIC MONKEY JUNGLE SING ALONG is a good old-fashioned, community style sing along for music monkeys of all ages, sizes, levels and abilities. We’ll sing, dance, laugh, play, move, imagine and create while focusing on melody, unison, range, dynamics, tempo, call & response and having a rockin’ good time.
THE MUSIC MONKEY JUNGLE JAM combines the goodness of the sing along with a beginner percussion experience. The Jam is filled with music monkeys who rock, roll, move, groove, bounce, bop and jam their rhythms on the drums. This interactive experience is the precursor to Music Monkey Jungle Drummers.
MUSIC MONKEY JUNGLE DRUMMERS is percussion instrument exploration for music monkeys who love all things rhythm. We’ll play body percussion, gathering drums, hand drums and auxiliary percussion while identifying, writing and reading patterns of quarter notes and eighth notes. We’ll also work together and independently for the development of coordination, balance and listening skills.
MMJ POP! If you love Music Monkey Jungle and you love Pop classics, MMJ POP! is for you! Join us for a 30 minute, musical celebration that pays homage to the pop standards/classics that have influenced the creation of our original songs, dances and games.
SING DANCE LAUGH PLAY is creative movement, beginner dance and performance training for children between the ages 4 to 8 years. Participants will sing, dance, laugh and play to songs, dances and game that focus on steady beat, body percussion, spatial awareness, improvisation, coordination, balance and beginner choreography; the major movement and dance components of Orff Schulwerk.
CURRICULUM & LESSONS are ready to be taught to students between the ages of baby to 10 years old. Our songs, dances, games and lesson plans are designed with the main educational components and ideas of Orff Schulwerk, The Kodaly Method, Dalcroze Eurythmics, Universal Values and Educational Philosophies and Cognitive Development Theories of Piaget, Maslow and Gardner (read below to learn more). We are deeply committed to helping everyone blossom, bloom and grow while focusing on overall development. Our interactions will help develop listening skills, direction following, social skills, cognitive growth, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, speech, coordination, eye contact, hand/eye coordination, creativity, active imagination, universal values and active engagement. Our teachers are ready, with clearances in hand, to bring the goodness of the jungle to your little music monkeys.
